Submission of Curriculum Modules

MatEd solicits modules for posting on its website in the areas of materials technology, engineering and science. Appropriate modules include labs, demonstration, in-class discussions or activities and related exercises. Further information is given under "curriculum information" on this website; refer also to the FAQ section on the editorial and submission process.

MatEd accepts submissions in modified paper format. In particular, since the module is intended for use in a classroom, authors are requested to include the following sections in their submission:
  • Module title and author(s) with full contact information
  • Abstract of module
  • Curriculum overview and notes for the instructor
  • Module procedure (for the students)
  • List of equipment and supplies needed
  • Supporting materials, handouts, website and other resources
  • References
  • Acknowledgments
  • Optional: Author Bio (Maximum 100 words)

All submissions will be peer reviewed. Once reviewed and approved, full instructions will be provided for final submission. To allow for publication credit to the author, all modules will be posted on the website indicating that the material has undergone a full peer review.

Submissions should be sent by email to MatEd@edcc.edu. All submissions will be acknowledged and the results of peer review will be shared directly with the author. Further information and answers to questions may be addressed to the editor at the email address above.

Once the module is submitted, it will be sent for review. In parallel the editor will

A. request the following additional information from the author:
  • 1. Module objective
  • 2. Student learning objectives
  • 3. Key words (up to 5)
  • 4. Time required
  • 5. Pre-requisite knowledge (if any)
  • 6. intended grade level(s)

B. Provide the author with information on the MatEd copyright policy. Once the paper is reviewed, the editor will integrate the above information into the module and also provide
  • 1. Correlation with Mat Ed core competencies for the module
  • 2. Type of module/mode of presentation
  • 3. Table of contents
  • 4. Suggested module evaluation tools
