MatEd Team
| Mel Cossette has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing education and has developed
technician training programs for industry and educational institutions, including computer based training. She serves on community based and college advisory committees and has held administrative positions at several community and technical colleges. Mel serves as the Principal Investigator for the National Resource Center in Materials Technology Education (MatEd), and as co-PI on Proven Practices for Recruitment of Girls and Women to STEM Careers. |
| Tom Stoebe, Professor Emeritus of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of
Washington, is co-PI on the MatEd project, with a specific emphasis on curriculum focused on core competencies
for technicians in the materials technology area. He also assists with the development of the editorial and peer
review process for web site publications. |
| Mia Murphy works with the Materials Science Technology Program at Edmonds Community College and is the Program Assistant on the MatEd grant. Mia supports the Center’s day-to-day requirements and activities, coordinates events, and edits the web site. |
| Merrily Vincent works on project and budget management for the Center. She also works closely
with the MatEd partners to identify avenues and/or activities where partners can support the Center's goals. She
has a Masters' degree in Non-Profit Administration (MPA), a Certificate in Project Management (PM) and has
managed projects in both the private and educational sectors for 10 years. |
| Robert Simoneau has 35 years of academic and industrial experience in manufacturing-related
disciplines and plastics engineering, specifically in the areas of product design and development. He is
currently an Associate Professor at Keene State College in the Management Department. He recently served two
years as a Program Director in the Division of Undergraduate Education at the National Science Foundation and
serves as a co-PI and focusing on the web site, acquisition of curriculum, and core competencies. |
